Getting the Audience on His Side
One thing that
is as clear as day in Mohammed Qahtani's presentation is that he doesn't orbit
his topic. He gets directly into his topic without any unnecessary
delays and uncalled for examples. He begins his presentation with a
style of opening I have never seen before, which proved to be very successful
in grabbing myself and the audience's attention. He demonstrates how words cuts
deeper than a knife. He demonstrates how a word can kill and save. He
demonstrates how a word has more power than we believe it does. He gives a
superb yet saddening example of how a single sentence murdered his friend,
Nasser. He explains why being able to properly explain yourself is important by
showing that the way you express yourself can deeply hurt someone, even if your
intention wasn't to.
Qahtani's
explains how your tone can affect someone's behavior by setting his own child
as an example. The method Qahtani used to open his presentation was his
key to his successful presentation. By opening his presentation this
way, it was without a doubt that more than the majority of the audience had
their eyes and full attention on Qahtani, which is what someone should aim for
when presenting to an especially large group or audience. Just like a hook in a
paragraph or essay, Qahtani's opening was the hook that grabbed
everyone's attention. I believe that if he were to open his presentation
in a different way, not much of the audience would be overly focused on him. I
can almost assure this because I, myself, knew I would enjoy his presentation
the first 2 and a half minutes.
The Power of Words
Qahtani's
presentation clearly taught me the importance of speech, social skill, and,
most importantly, the power of words. His presentation explains many
aspects in our daily life, like how severe bullying is (no matter to what
extent it is) or how important it is to be able to properly express
yourself. It is without a doubt no wonder why Qahtani has won first
place.
the blog of ziad was excellent he i knew about the topic and about the power of words in very simple and direct way
